Body connection

Have you ever felt disconnected from your body? I think anxiety can do that sometimes. We can feel such a physical sense of unrest that it can be hard to feel safe and connected. Maybe like me, you have had moments where you have thought your body is working against you. I’m here to tell you that it is not my friend.

In my own story, the best way to explain the experience of growth in this area is to fake it 'til you make it. That might not sound very comforting, but bear with me! If you are in a season where anxiety is running high, It can be easy to ignore the very habits that help to bring us back into the present moment, and back into awareness of our body's needs. When you wake up with anxiety, you don’t automatically think "Get up and do yoga, get your mind on gratitude, and nourish with a loving breakfast full of healthy fats, proteins, and fresh produce!" My point is, If we can rise above the way we feel and begin to instill these habits, we are shifting a whole lot more for ourselves than we realize.

When you go hours without eating because anxiety is high and you don’t feel like it or simply forget, you’re contributing to imbalanced blood sugar, and imbalanced blood sugar can hugely contribute to mood issues and cause anxiety to be worse! What I found is that when I committed to nourishing myself in a loving way even when I didn’t feel that deep connection yet, my body’s signals became stronger! I felt like my body physically came out of panic as it realized the gap was closing. Me and my body...we are on the SAME TEAM!

As we learn to nourish more frequently with nutrient-dense foods, our bodies say a big thank you! You cannot thrive mentally when you have the habit of eating not enough or far too much, ad your habits with food are ruled by emotion. If you can learn to breathe, to come into rest and digest, to nourish more often, and listen to your body's cues, I promise, you will feel a greater sense of calm, gratitude, and body connection! If you need support on this journey, let’s chat!
