Not sure about body love

It’s clear that we are in a self-love movement. We’ve come a long way with health at every size, and body acceptance movements. But maybe you are thinking, “Do I really need to love my body?” and “How will I get there when I’ve felt frustrations and negativity towards my body for so long?” Maybe you’re comfy to stay and do life from where you’re at, and maybe you aren’t so sure about the body love thing.

Here’s the thing. You don’t have to be obsessed with your body in order to feel connected. However, living from a space of negativity towards your body and anxiety around how to nourish it feels pretty terrible. A few years back I really felt like my body was working against me. I didn’t feel like we were on the same page at all, and I honestly wasn’t listening in! I was experiencing major feelings of negativity towards my body…even hated it at times. I know-thats a strong thing to say. Did I go from there to one day deciding I was going to love it? NO

I’m a firm believer that gratitude shifts everything, and the same goes for your body. When you think about what your body does that you are grateful for it helps you form a respect for your body. I’m grateful I can get up and walk in the sunshine in the mornings. I’m grateful I can feed my child. I’m grateful I can give hugs and that my body has the power to give and receive love and warmth. What is it for you? And what do you respect about yourself that is not physical? Don’t allow negativity to creep in and rob you of your self-esteem. Don’t get to a place of those strong emotions towards your body like I once did! Build a well of respect and see how it shifts your entire life.

xo, Happy Valentines
