What is your story around food?
What was your dinner table like growing up? How did that shape your relationship with food? Do you remember comfort and warmth? Tension? Unconditional love? Judgement? What food habits were displayed to you from your parents? Why do these things even matter?…
Food and emotion are deeply related. We all have a story when it comes to food! You may not realize it, but if you pay attention to the language you speak around food, you may notice that a lot of those beliefs were formed from your unique experiences growing up, and your family culture!
It can be really hard to think about, but taking a moment to journal out your food story, can shed a lot of light on where you are at today, and what you would like to see heal in your relationship with food and your body! It’s a very powerful experience to understand how your beliefs are showing up on your plate. Where have emotions or self-judgements impacted your eating habits, and what would you love to see change? How would that change your life?
If you can, take a little bit of time journalling out your food story. It’s such a huge part of life, and sometimes we don’t realize how much is impacting how we approach nourishing our body’s.
